Noblesville will open its fifth city park, Federal Hill Commons, with a free celebration and concert featuring the Wright Brothers from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 13. The 6.5-acre urban park is named after the Federal Hill District it is located in and incorporates the city’s history into its design and features.

“We’ve been waiting patiently for this grand opening event and we are excited to host this celebration for Federal Hill Commons and the Noblesville community,” said Parks Director Brandon Bennett. “The transformation this area has had in the past year and a half has been amazing. Federal Hill Commons was designed with historical features, interactive green space and state-of-the-art equipment. Its mix is similar to Noblesville’s demographic – lifelong residents and newer families. I know it will serve as a destination to many and will create lasting memories for a lot of people.”

Saturday’s grand opening schedule includes:

6:00 p.m. – The park opens and the Rugged Brothers Band perform live on the First Merchants Pavilion stage. Food and beverage options will be available at the Market Plaza with seating available there and at the Noblesville Rotary Club Shelter, sponsored by Noblesville Rotary Club and Noblesville Midday Rotary Club. Indy Photo Booths will be taking commemorative pictures near the amphitheater.

6:00 to 9:00 p.m. – The Kids Activity Area, sponsored by Riverview Health, will be open and include inflatables, trackless train, face painters, air brush tattoos and balloon artists. Anyone interested in volunteering for the kids activity area may contact Nichole Haberlin at [email protected] or 770-5750.

7:15 p.m. – National Anthem and flag raising ceremony.

7:30 p.m. – The Wright Brothers take the stage to perform.

9:30 p.m. – Trail and road access within Forest Park is closed for fireworks.

10:00 p.m. – Wright Brothers end and a 5-6 minute “fireworks finale” begins.

The city would like to thank our Grand Opening sponsors: Noblesville Parks Foundation, Myers Construction Management, Inc., McGavic Outdoor Power, Riverview Health, Recreation InSites, Boomerang Development, Indiana American Water and CICF Legacy Fund.

Federal Hill Commons amenities include:

First Merchants Pavilion – the amphitheater is the anchor of the park and is designed to accommodate a full symphony orchestra. The stage will host concerts, theatrical performances and more. On the pavilion wall are permanently installed musical instruments provided by the Noblesville Parks Foundation.

The Green Room – The site of the former First Merchants Bank at 107 S. Logan St., is the park’s rental and indoor event facility and features an outdoor patio created by Myers Construction Management, Inc. It will be used for corporate events, general rentals for events like family reunions, birthday parties and wedding and baby showers.

Playground – The playground is the first in the parks system with rubber tile safety surface. It includes a variety of age range equipment and is designed so that parents and guardians can easily see their children playing.

Market Plaza – The new home to the Noblesville Farmers Market also provides overflow parking and speakers on light poles. It is located adjacent to the restroom facilities and the Noblesville Rotary Shelter.

Bicentennial Bison – The colorful bison designed to highlight Hamilton County during last year’s Indiana Bicentennial has a new home near Logan Street inside the park. Additional local art pieces will be added to the park.

### Federal Hill Commons, a 6.5-acre piece of property, sits on the northwest corner of the intersection of State Road 19 and State Road 32. This is the location of a beautiful amphitheater, market plaza and event space. The Commons will be used not only as a gathering space for events and music, but also as an economic development catalyst extending Downtown Noblesville across the White River. The city’s fifth park was added to the Noblesville Parks Master Plan in August 2013. The city broke ground on Sept. 10, 2015 and will hold its grand opening on May 13, 2017. ###
