In 1871, the Noblesville Hook and Ladder Company was organized to secure protection of the properties within Noblesville. Over the years, the Noblesville Fire Department (NFD) has seen many changes since its humble beginnings. Currently, the NFD has 136 career firefighters, including eight full time staff positions, operating out of 7 fire stations. Station personnel consist of three shifts, each of those shifts operating on a 24-hour schedule. Each shift consists of a Battalion Chief, 8 Officers, and 30 firefighters.

NFD covers a rapidly growing area of 58 square miles within its jurisdiction. These 58 square miles consist of City and Township of Noblesville with a population of approximately 72,000 citizens. In addition to fire suppression, we provide emergency medical services (EMS), consisting of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS/Paramedics), providing transport in 4 ambulances. NFD also maintains a Hazardous Materials Team, Dive Team, and Tactical Rescue Team.
