20th Annual Noblesville Street Dance Announces New Features back
Date of Record: July 13, 2011

One of Noblesville's favorite summer events is coming soon and will be delivering some new features!  Noblesville Main Street, Inc. and the City of Noblesville will hold the 20th annual downtown Noblesville Street Dance on the historic courthouse square on Saturday, July 23 from 5pm - 11pm.  Admission is free and the event is open to the public.  Lead sponsors for this year's event are Riverview Hospital and the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the fun activities that attendees have come to expect, a marketplace of retail vendors, a silent auction tent, and a raffle for a chance to win a gift certificate from Smith's Jewelers will be conducted.  Also, returning from a several year absence will be a beer garden area.  The beer garden will feature a wide variety of beer selections from local eateries Asian Grill and Barley Island Brewing Company.

"The Street Dance is such an important event for the city and Noblesville Main Street is pleased to organize it each summer, but we realize that the event needs to continue to grow and evolve," stated Jon Houghtalen, chairperson of this year's event.  "We feel that these new activities will bring more excitement and give our guests some great options for enjoying the evening," he added.

Because it is often quite warm during the dance, the new Cool Zone Misting Tent will likely be a popular gathering place.  Spanning Logan Street between 8th and 9th Streets, the tent will provide a shaded place with refreshing, water misting nozzles overhead.  Teachers Credit Union, a new sponsor to the Street Dance, is providing the service.  "From a health and safety perspective, we think providing the Cool Zone is important and we're sure our guests will appreciate the service," stated Houghtalen.

This year's event will provide the same favorite activities as previous Street Dances.  The Kids Zone will be open from 5pm - 8pm with games, prizes, and activities for kids including a bounce house, face painting, and a rock climbing wall.  The Classic Car Show will feature vintage autos from Model T's to hot rods.  The cars will be judged in a people's choice competition.  Also returning will be the antique tractor show featuring farm equipment dating back to the 1940's.

Enjoy great food and beverages at "A Taste of Noblesville" which will feature delicious treats prepared by local Noblesville restaurants.  Kick back, relax, and watch the show while enjoying dinner from your favorite restaurants.

At 6pm, the dancing begins!  Noblesville's D.J. Lunsford will start off the evening on the main stage and will get the crowd moving.  At 7:30pm, LemonWheel, playing dance hits from the '70's up to today's number one hits, will take the stage and perform your favorite hits until 10:45pm.

Special thanks to this year's lead sponsors--Riverview Hospital and the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.  Additional sponsors include The Noblesville Star, The Times, Current in Noblesville, Hamilton County Chiropractic, the Noblesville Lakeview Drive office of F.C. Tucker, Hare Chevrolet, Alexander's on the Square, and M & I Bank.  Radio station 104.5 WJJK will be onsite doing promotional giveaways as well.
