Free Tours of Historic Downtown Noblesville Offered This Summer back
Date of Record: July 12, 2011

Thanks to the National Park Service Preserve America matching grant program, free student-led walking tours of the historic courthouse square are offered every Friday and Saturday at 1pm and 3pm from now until August 27.  The tours depart from the Noblesville Visitors Center, located at 839 Conner Street.  Tour guides will highlight some of the rich history of downtown Noblesville as well as explain the architectural significance of various downtown buildings.  "The tours are an excellent program for visitors to Noblesville as well as for residents who would like to know more about our city," said Mayor John Ditslear.

In addition to the tours of downtown, this grant program also is providing funding for tours at the Hamilton County Historical Society (located at 810 Conner Street in the Old Sheriff's Residence and Jail) as well as the Indiana Transportation Museum (located inside Forest Park at 701 Cicero Road).  Free tours of the Hamilton County Historical Society are available Wednesday through Saturday from 10am - 4pm.  For tour information and hours for the Indiana Transportation Museum, call the ITM office at (317) 773-6000.
For more information, contact Tiffany Hatfield, Preserve America Docent Program Coordinator, at (317) 691-0262.
